1937（昭和12）年に商工省陶磁器試験所を退官した平野耕輔が，永年蒐集した窯業製品の中から教育参考資料として母校に寄贈したコレクションである。これらの資料は，明治中期から昭和初期までの研究試作品と工業製品を集めた産業考古学遺産である。コレクションは，学校や試験場における研究試作品（試），工場における諸規制品（工）および硝子製品（硝）に分かれており，それぞれに番号がついている。

　平野耕輔は、東京職工学校陶器玻璃工科を1891（明治24）年に卒業した。引き続いてワグネルに師事し，外国留学後は東京高等工業学校の教授および窯業科長，旧南満州鉄道（株）窯業試験工場長，商工省陶磁器試験所長を歴任して斯界の発展に尽くした。1940（昭和15）年，窯業学科主任として再び母校にもどり，1943（昭和18）年には初代の東京工業大学付属窯業研究所長に就任した。

Hirano Collection of Porcelain and China
This collection is a gift from Prof. Kōsuke Hirano, who was head of the Department of Ceramics at the Tokyo Higher Technical School and the Tokyo Institute of Technology. It includes samples of test production and initial production at the developing stage of the modern ceramic industry of Japan.

After studying under Prof. Dr. Wagener at the Tokyo Vocational School, Hirano worked as a professor and as head of the Department of Ceramics at the Tokyo High Technical School and Tokyo Institute of Technology.
